March 9:
To recognize the achievements of performance Canaan Dogs and their owner/handler, the Canaan Dog Club of America has implemented seven new annual performance awards, effective January 1, 2008.
January 24:
The 2008 CDCA Regional Specialty will be hosted by the MidWest Canaan Dog Club, the evening of Saturday, May 3rd, in Jefferson, WI; the Sweepstakes competition will take place at the All Breed show that same day.

New AX/AXJ Canaan Dog: Sally Armstrong-Barnhardt's “Echo” earned her excellent agility titles and is now known as Jealou Echo Echo I Herd Ewe AHBA-HCT, NADAC-NAC, AKC-CGC, NA, NAJ, OA, OAJ, AX, AXJ. Echo was bred by Carol O'Bryan. Echo's son “Bob” is also now competing in excellent. Bob is CH. Cando Bobesox N Saddleshoes OA, OAJ and was bred by Sally.

2006

November 21:
Eileen Jaffe's Canaan Dog “Oz” is the first Canaan Dog to earn the Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) title by qualifying in both rally advanced and rally excellent in ten different trials. Oz is now known as Velikaya's Halom haMidbar RAE CGC and was bred by Isabella Zirri.
November 8:
An updated Canaan Dog Health Survey is now available in electronic form (pdf).
Friday, October 13:
The 2007 CDCA National Specialty will be held September 7, 2007, in Owensville, Ohio (outside Cincinnati), and will be chaired by Denise Gordon. The 2008 CDCA National Specialty will be held September 25, 2008, in upstate New York, in the Finger Lakes region, and will be chaired by Amanda Pough.

Isabella Zirri says that The Canaan Dog Journal "has a new address . . . and this issue (Fall 2003) and the next one will be open to everyone and not only to subscribers."
November 20:
The AKC is considering putting in a new sport - working dog titles. At the junior level it seems to combine obedience, temperament, and tracking/scenting abilities. At the masters level it also involves protection work. The AKC is taking feedback on these proposals. If you might be interested, read through the proposal and give comments.

The CDCA has recently created two Versatility award programs and a Register of Merit award program. The Versatility and Pre-AKC Versatility programs recognize Canaan Dogs that excel in different types of competition, including Conformation, Obedience, Tracking, Herding, and Agility. The Register of Merit program recognizes Canaan Dogs who have produced outstanding offspring.
